Who is the
European School Service? Your label of quality
- ESS,
the European School Service, is a non-profit making association.
- The
ESS was founded in 1967, primarily to support efforts to
maintain high standards in language courses offered by institutions
located in areas where the target language is spoken. Your
label of control!
- ESS
regularly asks independent language course consultants to
inspect the language schools represented by its Members
in Europa. Your label of quality!
- The
ESS Members are language Tour operators and school agencies
in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
Your international-mix guarantee!
- Membership
is open exclusively to organisations which represent, among
others, European language schools other than their own.

- The
ESS inspections.
On a scale form 0 to 10, the average result of the
7 schools inspected in England in Summer was 8.44.
points, between "good" and "very good".

"All the schools this year were reasonably
good and some were exceptional".

Tour Operators: Would you like to become a member of the ESS?
- If
you collaborate with language schools in Europe, the ESS
can be of great use to you. In fact, our Association has
been founded to support efforts to maintain high standards
in language courses in the major European countries.
- In
order to pursue this aim, the ESS laid down a Code of Practice
and Guidelines regarding the conduct, assessment and publication
of language courses and language tours. Members must observe
these rules.
- Language
schools and courses in Europe which are represented by ESS
members are being inspected regularly. In addition the Association
fosters the exchange of professional experience and ideas
among its Members.
- Membership
is open to organisations which represent, among others,
European language schools other than their own, and whose
main purpose consists in effecting enrolments for such or
other schools.
- Applicants
will receive a copy of the Articles of Association and the
Code of Practice and Guidelines.
- The
European School Service is a non-profit-making Association.
The contribution by its Members Swiss Francs 1100.-
per year is intended to cover the administration
expenses and the cost of the inspections or any other marketing
tool (Web site...)
